You instruct a surveyor somebody like me. And generally, the need for that is twofold. The first is one of budgeting, in that there’s little point in undertaking the process if, at the end of the day, you can’t afford to go through with it. The second thing, and probably the more immediate, is that the section 42 Notice drawn up by your solicitor needs to have a price, and it needs to have an offer price, the price that you’re prepared to pay the competent landlord for the new lease.
